After a blizzard, the deep snow at Newfound Gap surrounded the Rockefeller Memorial. (This location is where Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the park on September 2, 1940.) Shortly after, another snowfall blanketed the area and access to the park was prohibited. We were thankful to have made it there and back in one piece! Newfound Gap, Great Smoky Mountains
